The magic of the 12 1/2 lies not only in her good qualities, but in the beauty of her shape. Handsome from all angles, the shape of the bow is of particular interest. From a wide deck line, the forward sections curve inward quickly to form a waterline with considerable hollow, and continue below water with a trace of reverse curve at the garboard plank.

This kind of boat, gracefully designed by Nathanael Green Herreshoff , for use on Buzzards Bay, has been enjoyed by thousands of sailors since its first introduction in 1914. ... And the legend is still going on...
